The Panasonic HVX200 is the “Swiss Army Knife” of video cameras. It is designed with features that make it useful in a wide range of applications. And it is designed to fit into many workflows with many kinds of equipment. The HVX200 records in 13 different formats to P2 flash memory card, and it records in standard definition (DV) onto MiniDV tape.
Lou Angeli Digital Imaging -- Now Using Canon's T1i and Panasonic's HVX200
The HVX200 is a native 16:9, 1/3in. three-CCD camcorder. Sampling is achieved at the astounding 1080p60 rate at 14 bits though a 19-bit intermediate sampling stage. What's all this mumbo jumbo mean?  It makes for an extremely high level of sampling precision, rivaling the most sophisticated and expensive cameras on the market.
The Panasonic AG-HVX200 is not another mini HDV camera. It is quite the different animal with the format being known as DVCPRO HD.  Why's that important? Some networks limit that quantity of footage shot using the HDV format used by Sony. For the DP the HVX200 brings the capabilities of the company's high-end Varicam HD  ($116,000) camcorder much closer to the size and price of the extremey popular DVX100.

Canon T1i - HVX200
Many of the new DSLRs, like Canon's 500D include remarkable HD video capability. While most still photogs have been cool to the idea, many videographers have taken the format to heart. It's a shift that the DSLR manufacturers didn't anticipate, but more and more video shooters are beginning to explore the video capabilities of Digital Single Lens Reflex honing the art and craft of creating high quality video.
At Lou Angeli Digital Imaging, were using Video DSLR during scenes in which we're emulating motion picture film -- like documentaries or indie features. The new DSLR's offer the one component that conventional HD Video Cameras can't! And that's to create a proper look and feel of film by using various lenses to create a short depth-of-field.
